There has been some clinical evidence that low dose aspirin may be beneficial for patients who have varicose vein ulcerations in the lower leg. Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian, a board certified vein surgeon in Santa Monica analyzed data from a study in the British Medical Journal which demonstrated no independent improvement in vein ulcer healing when aspirin is combined with compression therapy vs. compression therapy alone. The study did not identify a signficant improvement in ulcer healing or surface area in the two groups.
