Fast Food Diets and Acne Scarring: Los Angeles

This is a cross-sectional study from Nepal, Korea, and India that examined the role of lifestyle and patient variables with acne and acne scar severity. The researchers were attempting to identify variables that coincide with scar severity or acne.

Age, gender, family history of acne, and dietary habits (fast food and dairy products) were assessed across acne and acne severity. Multivariate logistic regression of the data revealed no significant association between acne severity or scarring and age, gender, family history, fast food consumption, and dairy intake.

Practically speaking, this article defines an important element in acne development and acne scarring, and that is the widespread belief that outside variables can likely impact acne severity and thus scarring. Although there was no significance in this association based on this study, it is safe to assume that stress, dietary habits, and hormonal factors may influence acne severity. Further, the concept of fast-food is different across the world. Inflammatory oils and high sugar additives may possibly correlate with acne severity and these ingredients may be more prominent in a Western diet.

If you are concerned about acne severity or acne scarring, our Los Angeles plastic surgery practice offered solutions for both problems. RF microneedling and laser resurfacing are effective treatments for acne scarring and can help reduce surface textural and contour problems.
