DIAGNOSING SPIDER AND VARICOSE VEINS

Spider and varicose veins are usually seen in adult men after the age of forty and adult women after pregnancy and childbirth. Once you start developing spider and varicose veins in the legs, it is unlikely they will spontaneously disappear unless you seek treatment. It is important that you find a board certified vein specialist who can examine your legs, map out the spider and varicose veins, and perform a diagnostic ultrasound to determine if you are a candidate for one of our laser therapies for spider and varicose veins.

Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian, our Beverly Hills and Santa Monica vein specialist is an expert in the management of cosmetic spider veins and deeper medical varicose veins. Once you visit our Santa Monica Vein Center, he can personally perform a diagnostic vein mapping with ultrasound and infrared light to determine the source of your vein issues. You will have a chance to personally observe the vein mapping procedure and participate in the evaluation and decision-making proces for veins.

CLARIVEIN

Patients who have varicose veins with documented venous insufficiency on vein ultrasound may benefit from an FDA-Approved treatment for vein disease known as Clarivein. Dr. Karamanoukian is among a few surgeons who perform this innovative and less-invasive vein procedure in the Southern California area. Clarivein uses mechanico-chemical ablation techniques to control venous insufficiency that causes symptomatic varicose veins. Choose our Santa Monica and Beverly Hills vein clinics for consultation, diagnostic imaging, and treatment of your varicose veins.

Varicose Veins

Our center focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of varicose veins in our comprehensive Vascular Vein Clinic and Plastic Surgery Center located in Los Angeles. With two board-certified Vein Surgeons on staff, we can help you manage cosmetic vein problems and more medically-important varicose veins. Welcome to the Santa Monica Vein Center.

Bulging varicose veins cause problems with your venous circulatory system, ultimately placing your entire circulatory system - including your heart - at risk. Most bulging varicose veins source from deeper venous reflux in the Great Saphenous Vein in your thigh. At the Santa Monica Vein Center, we offer multiple treatment options for varicose veins.

Varicose veins occur in the legs, thighs, calves, and feet. They often cause problems beyond the characteristic bulging through the skin; as they may lead to symptoms of early muscle fatigue, pain, discomfort, cramping, swelling, skin changes, and leg ulcerations. During your examination, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian will map out your vein problems and suggest mechanisms to reduce your risk for developing more serious vein disease. Pregnancy, genetics, family history, and inactivity can all increase your risk for varicose veins.

Once we make the diagnosis for varicose veins, we will either recommend a conservative treatment approach; or more invasive options such as non-surgical sclerotherapy - to more definitive treatments such as microphlebectomy, laser-guided elimination of varicose veins, and endovenous laser therapy. Dr. Karamanoukian is an interventional and endovascular vein specialist with two board-certifications in plastic surgery and venous and lymphatic surgery.

Schedule a consultation today to determine which varicose vein treatment is right for you. Dr. Karamanoukian and his team will assess your vein disease and recommend an appropriate treatment for you.

Lasers and Microneedling RF for Facial Veins

Facial veins and rosacea are also quite common features of spider veins on the face. Examined closely, rosace and facial spider veins are composed of micro-blood vessels that branch out into the skin. RF Microneedling (known as Nanofractional RF) is an excellent treatment for redness and blotchy skin caused by rosacea and telangiectasia. When combined with Vbeam laser, Microneedling RF can help even out your skin complexion, reduce fine wrinkles, tighten pores, and smooth skin.
