Current Research in Venous Insufficiency:

Varicose veins can often be caused by a condition known as venous insufficiency; which is treated with an examination and diagnostic evaluation of the Great Saphenous Vein - followed by either RF ablation or laser ablation of the affected root veins. Our Santa Monica Vein Center is a national center of excellence for venous disease and we are experts in RF and laser ablation of the Great Saphenous veins. This study demonstrates the longterm efficacy of RF ablation of the GSV, a procedure that we perform routinely, at the 5 year interval. The study authors note the following: "Vein occlusion rates in the treated limb reached 97.1% at 5 years, with a significant decrease in Venous Clinical Severity Score and Aberdeen Varicose Vein Questionnaire scores from preoperative levels.”
