Impact of labiaplasty on psychological well-being and quality of life in Chinese women: Findings from a single-center retrospective study
In this study, 35 Chinese women who underwent labiaplasty were retrospectively reviewed to evaluate outcomes at the 1 week and 3 month post period. 68.6% of patients sought surgery for pain and discomfort, 20% due to discomfort and pain during intimacy, and 42.9% due to ‘feelings of inferiority’ related to their labia appearance. Post-op results demonstrated an improvement in psychological well-being, HADS-Anxiety score which measures the level of anxiety, and HADS-depression score which measures depression. The authors conclude that labiaplasty reduced anxiety, depression, and contributed to improvements in mental well-being.
In clinical practice, labiaplasty has signficant positive outcomes in women from all perspectives. Women seeking labiaplasty procedures often find improvement in physical appearance, gain confidence in their confidence during intimacy and with clothes, and have reduced symptoms of pain and discomfort during the day.
