University of Rochester surgeons explore a case report of a female patient with silicone lymphadenopathy following breast implant rupture and leakage into the surrounding tissue. This is an unusual complication of breast implant rupture patient who had both a right lung adenocarcinoma and hypermetabolic mediastinal lymph nodes.
I have found that silicone disease is far more widespread than discussed in the general literature as I specialize in microplastic and silicone disease, especially in the context of injectable silicone and silicone breast implants. If a patient is at risk for silicone rupture; or has signs suggestive of breast implant rupture, early treatment is advised.
