Menopausal Craniofacial Hyperhidrosis and Botox

This case report describes a 68 year old postmenopausal woman with craniofacial hyperhidrosis who was treated with botulinum toxin injections after refractory response to oral antimuscarinic agents and topical treatments. Focal hyperhidrosis is a real phenomenon that can affect the head and scalp areas and cause problems with functional daily living. Multiple modalities work well, including oral antimuscarinic agents, topical antiperspirants, aluminum chloride powder, and botulinum toxin injections.

The patient was treated with 100 units of onabotulinum toxin A to the forehead, frontal hairline, and periauricular scalp. Significant improvements were noted.
