Tranexamic acid TXA has potent antifibrinolytic properties with a salient safety profile. Surgeons are using TXA during surgery to facilitate hemostasis. A study of surgeon experience with TXA assessed international trends. Out of 256 surgeons responding, approximately 69% reported active use of TXA; particularly in Australia and Canada through intravenous channels, topical administration, and tumescent application. TXA was most used in facelifts and abdominoplasties. Surgeons noted favorable TXA profiles in reducing blood loss, improved surgical field visibility, minimizing ecchymosis and edema, and faster recovery.
