Treatment of burn scars and superficial plastic surgery scars involves multidisciplinary use of lasers, injections, and scar modulation techniques. Burn scars can be severe in some patients, causing changes to skin texture, color, and contour.
In this study, researchers examined whether nanofat injections could optimize the visual severity of a scar. Thirty patients with postburn scars participated and received nonfat injections into scar tissue. Results documented an improvement in scar height, color, vascularity, and pliability - thus improving scar visibility scales.
The authors conclude that nanofat can successfully improve postern scar treatments.
